“This has got to be the sweetest and most emotional proposal that I’ve ever been apart of! Nate & Alyssa are such a beautiful couple! Alyssa was COMPLETELY blindsided by Nate popping the question! Nate made sure that her mama was there to give her a big hug and their friends were all there to celebrate with afterward!” – Photographer, Emi Plaisance

Q: Let’s start at the beginning. How did you two first meet?
A: We shared mutual friends and eventually became close friends for a few years before we tried dating one another.

Q: What makes your relationship special? Tell us some things that you both value in your time together. What makes your relationship unique?
A: We travel often, but I think the fact we both are self-employed is something not a lot of couples share. Nate owns his own business and I am a stylist at a salon. I think this allows us to challenge each other in our careers and also gives us opportunities to celebrate accomplishments together. We actually complement each other and our work ethics very well!

Q: How did you know your partner was the one? When did you first know this in your relationship?
A: I actually am the one who pursued Nate for quite some time. I am the first girl Nate has ever dated and he wasn’t really interested in a serious relationship at first. It became more serious when he moved off to college and I was still in high school. I worried a lot when we started the long-distance thing, but I quickly learned how serious Nate was. He drove home almost twice a week to see me just for a few hours and then would go back to school the next day for classes. He came home every weekend and we realized how much we didn’t want to be apart. I think as much as we craved each other’s company really showed me that he was the one I wanted to spend my life with.

Q: Give us all the details about the proposal. How and where did it happen? Was it a surprise? What was the planning process?
A: We had intentions to spend the evening watching a football game at a local bar in savannah with some friends. I had to work so Nate went to Savannah with one of his friends and I made plans to just meet them down there. When I got to Savannah he met me at the hotel and was going to walk with me to meet our friends for dinner. As we reached river street he pulled me aside and popped the question. He hired a photographer and got my mom to be there without me having any idea! I was in complete shock!

Q: We’re all about the bling… Tell us all about that ring!
A: He had it custom-designed for me in Atlanta! It’s a 2.5 carat oval-shaped diamond that is too die for!! He had lots of Pinterest pictures to give him some hints! LOL

Q: What are you most excited about when it comes to your wedding planning?
A: I think I am most excited to write our own vows and get to read them to each other! I feel like that is something we will get to cherish forever.
